I wonder whats up with quilters in say, Finland, Sweden or Greenland for that matter,
they have to be making quilts up there!
Interesting to see where we've all come from and that this has brought us all together.
I am very intimidated at trying to hand applique this Dresden down. getting all those round-y parts the same.... the block is so darn cute in these fabrics, I'm encouraged, but still today, I sit and stare at it and wonder, how the heck am I going to do that...
I got these Jennifer fabrics in the mail yesterday. This color was not in the scrap packets, I ordered these myself. Gosh darn scrumptious. That's all I got to say.
So what things are you all thinking about for this project? Challenges? Simplicity?

The ideas are spinning, just from looking at your pictures, and I don't even have my hands on the real fabric yet! I'm thinking something fun and whimsical. Still can't decide if I want to do 2 blocks alike or both different . . . can't wait to get my packet! Woohoo!
I decided to make my "favorite things"...I've had an idea in my mind for quite a while for one block and found a cute pattern for my second block. We'll see if my ideas are able to materialize.

So many ideas! Thinking of mixing the old with the new modern fabrics... but then ... oh ...I won't be able to make a decision until the fabrics arive! Whatever, it will be a challenge using the 'A' word .. hehe!
I was thinking about my two blocks just now! I try to find a decision...so I will be ready when the fabrics will arrive. Have fun to all!

I love your dresden so much! I think I'd like mine to be very colourful like yours. I think I'd better do some homework this week so I'm ready to begin. There is nothing like the pleasure of going to the post box and seeing a lovely puffy packet like the ones you sent. Yes this will be great fun!
Your Dresden and yellow fabrics look great! I'm waiting for my fabrics to arrive and give me marching orders... meanwhile- I am thinking FIESTA! Chile peppers, big flowers, dancing girls and mariachis... I hope my applique skills are up to the challenge! I think I can at least handle the first 2.
V, I used 505 basting spray to keep my dresdan plate in place so I could sew it down. I tried pins first but I kept getting stuck with them. Ouch!! Your dresdan plate looks AMAZING!

Just go ahead and start with hand stitching the Dresden down - I'm sure it will turn out lovely.
And that gold/yellow is wonderful. I got five different colors of Jennifer's stripes recently - love them!!
Just take that dresden one stitch at a time. Don't worry about what's 4 stitches away just the next 2- if that makes sense. I also find that finger pinching/pressing the stitching line before you start sewing helps a lot. Wish I could recall what fab blog had that gem of an idea!
First I love what you did with both the whimsical flowers and the Dresden plate. I have planned both of my squares. The first will be the bird I did for my grandaughter's quilt. It is machine embroidered and will need some additional interest added and I want to add flowers or bugs, since the fabric colors don't lend themselves to tree branches. I have graphed a few options out, but didn't get the fabric yet. The second will be a flower and hopefully i can do the flower from a picture. My most difficult decision thus far is which piece to start with and how to coordinate the colors. I will figure it out.
WOW! That is just so exciting to see where the blocks will be coming from. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. The pressure is on now!
